What is cinema? From its early stages G.W.Griffith prophesied that in 2024, the most important and unique accomplishment that cinema will help be achieved, would be the eradication of any armed conflict from the civilized world.
From what we know so far, Griffith prophecy seems utopic, so someone could say that cinema is not changing the world. But if it is not changing the world then what does it does? It does nothing. This nothing that does not affect our world, our act in our thoughts, is the dominant characteristic of the art for Kant after he claims that the works of art do not serve any immediate or materialist interest.
